Metadata: FEAT Field
The features field is where catalogers put geographical or topical words that describe the contents of an image. Features found in the photograph other than geographic place names might include "smoke," "fire," " dust," "clouds," etc.
Searching Tips for this FieldSince these values vary in type and order, it is suggested that you use CONTAINING as the operator for SQL searches. When using the technical search form, this is done automatically for you. This will allow you to search for substrings and this operator does a case insensitive search. In searching for contents in this field, we recommend you use the most specific terms possible, and avoid generic terms such as RIVER or R., that may be abbreviated and will occur in thousands of entries.
Understanding Values in this FieldList of abbreviations used in the features field. Please note that when space permits, we use periods (.) at the end of each abbreviation and commas to separate terms. However, if space is limited we sacrifice the (.) in order to include the maximum amount of imformation in the field.

*The term "PAN" has a very specific meaning used in our database. PAN is used to indicate that the view was panoramic. This generally means that the horizon was also visible in the image. The TILT field for these frames is set to be HIGH OBLIQUE (HO).
