STS058-088-057 Missouri River and Warrenton, Missouri, U.S.A. October 1993
Visible in this near-vertical photograph are the Missouri River and its scoured sand and gravel floodplain caused by the floods of the spring and early summer of 1993. The agricultural fields of the floodplain were destroyed by the flooding waters. Hermann (barely discernible) lies east of the confluence of the Gasconade River and the Missouri River (near top center). To the northeast lies Warrenton (left of center) on east-west-oriented Interstate Highway 70.
