STS073-726-023 Red River and Paris, Texas, U.S.A. October 1995
Featured in this generally north-looking, low-oblique photograph is the Red River as it meanders west to east through the blackland region, a rich farming area. Visible is the small city of Paris (bottom right quarter of the photograph), a processing center and commercial hub of agriculturally rich northeast Texas. The Red River derives its name and color from the red sandstone found in the region drained by the river. Barely discernible north of the river in Oklahoma is Hugo Lake.
