STS068-167-00P Flint Hills and Kansas River Valley, Kansas, U.S.A. October 1994
This east-northeast looking, low-oblique photograph shows agricultural lands to the west of the grass-covered, gently rolling Flint Hills. Visible are Salina (lower left) and Marion Lake to its southeast. The agricultural fields of the Smoky Hill River Valley are apparent extending eastward to just south of Milford Reservoir and the Republican River, the junction of which forms the Kansas River and the site of Junction City. The Kansas River, flowing eastward past Manhattan and Tuttle Creek Reservoir, continues its eastward trek past the capital city of Topeka, south of which lies Emporia.
