STS064-210-030 Clear Lake Reservoir, California, U.S.A. September 1994
The Clear Lake Reservoir, a national wildlife refuge in Modoc National Forest of northeastern California, is visible left of center in this photograph. The reservoir, situated on a semiarid volcanic plateau, lies 10 miles (16 kilometers) south of the California-Oregon border. An upper tributary of the Klamath River serves as an outlet at the reservoir's northeast corner. Agricultural field patterns appear west-northwest of the reservoir. A large thunderstorm casts a dark shadow to the east-northeast.
